Muslims in the U.S. Presents Eid al-Adha To Pakistan

Morrisville (News CAIRO) - More people affected by floods in Pakistan this summer than in the earthquake of Haiti, but humanitarian aid to South Asian countries is seen as droplets only when compared to Haiti.

While many Muslims Triangle celebrates one of the two holiest days of Islam this week, Muhammad and a group of Pakistani Muslims held rallies to raise money for those affected by homeland disasters.

The Walk for 20 Million People, which took place in Cary, aims to raise money to respond to what may become the worst disaster ever experienced by Pakistan. Millions of people lost their property and life after the fifth season of heavy rain flooded the country.



"Americans do not realize this," said Muhammad, AT & T engineer who chairs the flood prevention Pakistani-American Anjuman of North Carolina. "We're trying to build awareness."

Tuesday is celebrated as the feast of Eid al-Adha, the feast of sacrifice, an important holiday when Muslims around the world commemorate Prophet Abraham's willingness U.S. to sacrifice his son to show obedience to God. Muhammad and other organizers of the fundraiser on Saturday, expect many Muslims who would demonstrate their obedience to God by giving to the needy during the walk two miles in Cary Bond Park.

Dr Shahnaz Mian make several trips to Pakistan to help provide food, clean water and medicine to the devastated areas. On the first trip, he recalled, people who walk in wet clothes or naked, without access to food or shelter, their houses washed away, their crops destroyed.

He worried about how people will survive through the winter now with the temperatures began to decline.

"They need tents," he said. "They need a jacket and blanket. The disaster is so vast, and so many people are affected .."
